Nonye Ikegwuoha - Artist and Architect with International Perspective

About Nonye Ikegwuoha

Residing in Manhattan, Nonye Ikegwuoha has more than 30 years of experience as an artist working in media such as painting, drawing, and sculpture. Originally from Nigeria, Nonye Ikegwuoha completed his bachelor of architect at the University of Lagos and has a longstanding interest in African indigenous architecture and its relationship to environmental sustainability efforts.

Mr. Ikegwuoha has participated in numerous exhibitions over the course of his career, including a solo show at the German Cultural Center in Lagos in 1993 and one at the Agora Gallery in New York in 2016. The latter exhibit, In Light of Being, presented a collection of 30 studies and 20 large-sized paintings that highlighted the harrowing experiences that migrants face.

Nonye Ikegwuoha is presently at work on a project centered on designing and building an art and recreational retreat in Abuja, Nigeria.
